Why we should think very carefully about the fuel we put in our bodies.
The saying ‘good food, good mood’ should be the mantra for all of us.
We need to be very particular about what to put in our bodies.
If we think of our brain as Formula 1 cars, then we can appreciate that our grey matter functions best when it is fed with high-quality fuel. When we eat high-quality food, we nourish the brain.
What do we mean by high-quality fuel?
Food that contains lots of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants is going to help our brains function better and ultimately for us to live healthier lives.
Serotonin- which helps regulate our sleep, mood, and appetite- is primarily created in our gastrointestinal tract, which again explains why we need to fill our stomachs with healthy, good-quality products.
What is bad fuel?
Processed food and refined sugar is poor-quality fuel, the equivalent of sticking terrible quality cooking oil into your formula 1 car instead of high-octane fuel. None of us would make such bad decisions with a top-end luxury car, so it’s all the more extraordinary that we abuse our bodies in this way. If we continue to use poor quality fuel for many years, then the negative consequences can be permanent. Trans fats, aspartame, and sugary drinks are some of the things you should eliminate from your diet immediately.
